Dear all,
Just a kind reminder that if you like to publish and share training materials (in any format or language) developed in your national consortia, K-centre, or as part of an event, you can submit them to the CLARIN Community on Zenodo.
HOW-TO
- Log in to your Zenodo account or sign up
- Go to Communities and search for CLARIN
- Use the New upload button to upload a resource:
- Drag and drop your files
- Digital Object Identifier (DOI): check “No I need one” and Zenodo will reserve a DOI for your entry.
- Resource Type: Please select “Lesson.’’
- Add a short, but meaningful Title
- Adjust the Publication date in case your upload was already published elsewhere.
- Add Creators:
- Teachers and Trainers should preferably also have an ORCID.
- If you produced the resource for a training event hosted by CLARIN ERIC or national consortia, please search for it as an Organisation, then go to Role and select Hosting Institution from the drop-down list.
-
Add a short Description about your research, highlighting the CLARIN context in which it was produced, and link to any other relevant information.
-
Licenses: CCBY 4.0 is assigned automatically but you can change it if necessary.
-
Recommended information: If applicable, here you can add Contributors, Keywords and subjects, Languages, Dates, and Version.
-
Funding: If you created the resource as an outcome of a funded project, please add the funder’s details here.
-
If applicable, you can add Related works, Publishing Information, Conference, etc.
When done, check the Preview, adjust the information if necessary and click Publish.
CLARIN administrators will curate your entry and notify you if any changes are necessary.

Hello Iulianna thanks for sharing!
Much of the CLARIN infrastructure is built around linking datasets, authors, tools etc. together. These processes are (semi-)automatic due to good metadata descriptions. Similarly, aggregations and harvesting is happening on multiple level to ensure that materials are shared on different levels (European, national, local). Is there a similar process in-place (or in the works) so that training materials that use specific tools or datasets can also have strong links back to those tools and datasets? It’s a question we have not found an answer for in our task within SSHOC-NL but maybe on a European level something already exists? Thanks!
Hi Bram,
Thank you for your insight and question. As you may be aware, you can use the SSH Open Marketplace for linking training, tools, services, workflows and datasets. The marketplace will be further integrated and promoted within the recently launched SSH Competence Centre, operated by the SSH Open Cluster as part of their work in the OSCARS project.
@alekoe and the SSH Open Marketplace Editorial board are currently also investigating how they can automatically harvest the metadata of the training materials deposited on Zenodo.
Further, I know that some of the CLARIN national consortia, for example, CLARIN-UK, are experimenting with Learning and Teaching Datasets collections, which can also be found via the Virtual Language Observatory.
Does this help?
Thank you!
Since Zenodo is not explicitly available and auto-harvesting is not enabled yet, I assume the current best workflow when creating new training materials (Social Sciences & Humanities Open Marketplace) is: 1. add training materials to Zenodo and get DOI there; 2. add to SSHOC marketplace with this DOI?
Hi Bram, Yes, indeed. If the resource is not published on any other platform, you can indeed submit it to Zenodo first to share it and get a DOI.
If the resource, however, is published on another platform (e.g. organisation website, project website, other repository), you can simply enter the metadata directly into the marketplace.
